Local indigenous men rotate staying different cabins throughout Gwaii Haanas NP Reserve This way, they can keep and eye on things, and make sure visitors show proper respect for the contents of the Park, and don't vandalize anything or take any souvenirs.

Black Tailed Deer - one of the last ones
In 2017, the Canadian government started a cull of Black Tailed deer from 4 islands in Gwaii Haanas. This is continuing in 2018. Its meant to eliminate browsing pressure on many plants, including western red cedar. The deer were introduced around 1900 to stimulate a hunting industry.
